About MHHS

I opened up the Mission Hills High School Library a few years back. I ordered all the books, furniture, materials & supplies. I also set up the web site, taught lots of research classes and established procedures for running the library, which I did for a little over a year while also running the SMHS library. When our district decided to have a librarian at both high schools (instead of split me between the two), I elected to return to our other high school library which needed an experienced library media teacher to work on a collection which hadn't seen a librarian in over ten years. Call me nuts to give up MHHS, but I love a challenge. I handed the MHHS library over to a library media teacher who moved up from a middle school and who retired unexpectedly this January.

The MHHS library is state of the art and had the largest budget for a school library Follett saw in California the year it opened. It is truly a beautiful facility with great resources and some great features. There is a teleconferencing lab adjacent to the library, a full time library technician, two part time library clerks, and a computer technician who works out of the library but is not a member of the library staff (though she often helps in a pinch). As a librarian I also over saw the textbook office and all things related to that; however, there is a fabulous part time textbook clerk who works very hard to make sure all runs smoothly on a daily basis.

I would encourage all interested to apply. I am the only credentialed librarian in the district and this is e-mail is as much a request for a librarian as it is for a colleague who would push my own practice and who would be willing to collaborate regularly to ensure a comparable program at both sites.

If interested in the position, please apply on EdJoin.
