[CALIBK12] Security system feedback requested: 3M? Radio Frequency?

I am forwarding a request from a colleague. His library, like mine, has
many books with the old one-way 3M sensors. You can't turn them off----they
will always beep. The newer books have the 2-way sensors that can be
desensitized. And some books have no sensors at all. He is considering
going with the radio frequency system and would appreciate any wisdom you
can offer from your own experience. Thanks.

 Hi Christine,

I'm looking into theft-detection systems and wondering what other high

school libraries are doing to solve this problem? I've heard the 3M

electromagnetic systems are not that reliable and therefore I am looking

into RF (Radio Frequency). Could you pass this on to the listserv to see

what our other librarians are doing, and how successful they've been in

this regard?

Thanks,

John Gilluly
