Peter,
I had been planning to retire but have postponed it for a while. What you
are attempting to do sounds excellent. Much of my training I receive over
the internet. I have learned so much from Calibk12 members.
Thanks,

Peter,
I spent one of my first days back at school with Deborah Ford of the Bureau
of Education & Research in a seminar on "Increasing the Effectiveness of
Your School Library." Deborah's one-day seminar was great and very
memorable. In a little video she dressed as a grey-wigged character named
"Aunt Betty," giving the kids their library orientation in a zany, funny
manner.
Deborah Ford is a very pretty lady, and that makes her "old lady" character
all the more effective, with her cute Southern accent. It would be great to
have Deborah's gray-wigged character, Aunt Betty, give a video lesson on a
topic such as weeding your library. It would be a memorable lesson and a
real hoot.

Hello Everyone,
I hope everyone had a great summer and glad to be back.
Kate MacMillan from Napa Valley USD and me are taking on a big undertaking.
Our goal is to provide professional development via video streaming /
internet / chat rooms / online courses - we are checking into many different
possibilities.
Our goal is to have short 5 - 15 minute presentations touching on as many
library topics as we can (such as - How to Weed - maybe broke down into a
series) - available Free 24 hours a day. They can be used as a refresher or
as trainings for new people and/or districts. Our goal is to have it be
used statewide - with presenters from all over the state.
We are completely in the beginning stages and our first actual meeting is in
a few weeks. We have the television studio, the tech department behind us,
and the possibilities to pull this off but we still need a lot of help from
you.
We are hoping to get your input on a few things:
1) Topics for presentations
2) Names of Fantastic Dynamic Presenters
3) Best format/programs/solutions to roll it out in
4) Donors - Something like this will not be cheap - we need
money/sponsors and ideas on getting funding
5) Other ideas/thoughts that can make this valuable for everyone
Our goal is to make this very professional - something that everyone can
used - the more input we receive the more meaning it will have statewide.
Thank you in advanced for all your comments and we will keep you posted on
our progress - we know it is not going to happen overnight but we are ready
to get the ball rolling. I know there are a lot of
publishers/vendors/colleges on our listserv - please feel free to send me
your input as well.
Thank you
Peter
