You can do anything you want with a poem written before 1925. It now
belongs to everyone.

Subject: [CALIBK12] poem modification and copyright
Esteemed Colleagues,
Can a class perform a poem written before 1912 and modify 2 lines,
without the Peach Blossom (our local oral interpretation competition) or
copyright police descending upon the school?
It would appear that the poem, A Happy New Year by Margaret Sangster, is
Public Domain...
TIA-
