[CALIBK12] Northern section Google visit cancelled

Unfortuantely we will not be able to have a tour of Google this year.  We had hoped for it to be an all-region event in March.  Our contact at Google said they have too many obligations this year and can't do it.

On the bright side, we had a great workshop with about 40 people at Cody's bookstore in Berkeley last Saturday.   English teachers from Berkeley High inspired us with their methods of encouraging students to read.  Sally Thomas, a library consultant  presented research on the number of people who read and the programs that Contra Costa Library will be having to encourage reading. One of the owners of Cody's books presented book suggestions and discussed the concerns of independent book stores. Diane Alexander, Tom Kahn and Judith Martin presented the benefits of www.librarything.com Thank you Sandy Gleichmann and Jessica Lee for organizing this Region 4 event.
