Hi NS CALIBBERs,
Following up on Diane's post about the workshop at Cody's Books http://www.codysbooks.com/specialsales/specialsales.jsp , both Linda Jewett and I send our heartfelt thanks to the very generous participants attending the workshop that later did a bit of shopping at Cody's. Those of you that purchased/donated books [you know who you are] for the Turkish school collection project, previously mentioned on CALIBK-12, have joined an ever-growing number of colleagues and friends that have touched us both with the kindness and consideration they've demonstrated. Thank you so much! Your contributions will mean a great deal to those children living in that small village in the Pamukkale region of Turkey.
Best Wishes,
Lynda and Linda
in Sacramento

>On the bright side, we had a great workshop with about 40 people at Cody's bookstore in Berkeley last Saturday. English teachers from Berkeley High inspired us with their methods of encouraging students to read. Sally Thomas, a library consultant presented research on the number of people who read and the programs that Contra Costa Library will be having to encourage reading. One of the owners of Cody's books presented book suggestions and discussed the concerns of independent book stores. Diane Alexander, Tom Kahn and Judith Martin presented the benefits of www.librarything.com Thank you Sandy Gleichmann and Jessica Lee for organizing this Region 4 event.
