Colleagues,
Did any of you attend Michael Cart's Thursday 11/15 workshop
at the CSLA conference, "The Best of the Best: What's New in YA
Literature," who might be able to share with me his latest list of
"best YA" picks--assuming he handed one out?
I wasn't able to attend the workshop myself. However, a
couple of years ago when he was keynote speaker at the San Diego
County Ed office-sponsored "Professional Growth Day for LMTs," he
handed us each his list of "The 50 Best Young Adult Books of 2005"...
then proceeded to booktalk each of them over the course of the next
two hours. Sound like a bit of a yawn? Not! I was riveted the
whole time. The next year when I actually had some money for new
library books (all donated by parents), I ordered virtually every one
on his list. Each is outstanding in one way or another, and a number
of them continued to be chosen by my high school students today.
I'd love to have his latest list--or know where I could go
to get it. Thanks in advance for any leads--or the list itself--any
of you might be able to give me.
