[CALIBK12] Gary Soto visit

We are trying to jump-start a social responsibility effort at our
school.  We are looking for a dynamic speaker to address middle school
students in the gym.  The audience will be large and rambunctious.  The
venue is not at all intimate or library-ish.  I'd like feedback from
anyone who's had Gary Soto at your school.  He's a wonderful author and
certainly students respond well and enthusiastically to his literature
but I'm wondering how he'd work for a large group.  I'd like to share
your responses today so if anyone has thoughts, email me asap.  Sorry
for the short notice but, as e a that's how things often work at school.
If anyone has any other recommendations (he/she doesn't need to be an
author) please pass them on.  Thanks so much for all your help.
