It is actually nonfiction, but reads very much like fiction.  Not just baseball, but also WWII history.

I have a challenge from a teacher to come up with book titles that fall into a ‘sports in literature’ category—and she needs it today.



I confess that though I have my favorites in YA books such as works by Chris Crutcher and Walter Dean Myers, I don’t have an extensive list. In addition, I’ve read almost no adult books in which sports play a big role.



What are your favorite books, both YA and adult, in which sports contribute to the plot or theme? I can post a hit list if there is interest.
