Has anyone read Playing for Pizza yet? I have heard it is a good one.

Playing With The Enemy: A Baseball Prodigy, a World at War, and a Field of Broken Dreams. The author of this book, Gary Moore, visited our school and generated lots of interest in reading this title. It is actually nonfiction, but reads very much like fiction. Not just baseball, but also WWII history.

Subject: [CALIBK12] Sports in Literature
All: I have a challenge from a teacher to come up with book titles that fall into a sports in literature category*and she needs it today. I confess that though I have my favorites in YA books such as works by Chris Crutcher and Walter Dean Myers, I dont have an extensive list. In addition, Ive read almost no adult books in which sports play a big role. What are your favorite books, both YA and adult, in which sports contribute to the plot or theme? I can post a hit list if there is interest. Thanks, Victoria WaddleTeacher LibrarianColony HighOntario, CA909-930-2929 x 2065
