[CALIBK12] SSR

Do any of you in middle schools or high school have SSR?  Some schools
set aside a 15 minute period separate from regular class periods for SSR
and the students read for 10-12 minutes and then write for 3-5 minutes. 
If you do this, do you have evidence that test scores have risen?  Any
comments would be helpfulk as I would like to start SSR at my high
school.  Thanks
