[CALIBK12] Handling donations

Dear Colleagues,
I've learned a lesson recently about accepting donations. I've always tried to be careful when accepting donations to make it clear to the donor that we only accept books that meet our selection criteria and only those that meet our needs. Recently a local business (actually part of a large multi-national chain; maybe there doing this everywhere?) initiated a book drive. They requested a "wish list," which I submitted to them. I naively assumed that we would get what was on the list. Since everything on that list met our criteria, I didn't' really spell out that we didn't want anything that wasn't on the list. What we actually got at the end of the drive, however, was mostly garage sale stuff that I will be giving away to our local used book store. I don't' think we got a single title that was on the list.
The business is interested in doing this again next year. I am trying to think of a way to spell out our criteria without sounding ungrateful.
Anyone have a similar experience?
