[CALIBK12] SKILLs bills in Congress

Hey all - I know it's summer, but let's  take a moment to look at  
these pieces of legislation: HR 2864; and Senate Bill 1699.


Wouldn't it be great to have a nationwide mandate that  "Requires  
school districts, to the extent feasible, to ensure that every school  
within the district employs at least one highly qualified school  
library media specialist in each school library." ?

The AASL website states: " Only about 60 percent of our school  
libraries have a full-time, state-certified school library media  
specialist on staff."
We know that it is far less than that here in California.  Let's all  
blitz our Senators and Representatives with letters! Take a moment to  
write your own.
