Tania,
In my library class we discussed possible questions that might be
encountered in an interview for a library media teacher. Here is the
list. They may be of help. They weren't directed at a technician.
1. We have seen a decline in library use over the past few years to
the point where we were thinking of just hiring a classified clerk to
run the library. Tell us what we would be missing if we didn't have a
credentialed librarian.
2. Our teachers have shown little interest in working with the
librarians, what strategies would you use to try to encourage them to
use the library?
3. Students have not been coming into the library, how would you
encourage them?
4. We have recently implemented DEAR (drop everything and read)
time into the schedule. What would you do to support the program?
5. What do you think the librarian's role would be when it comes
time for checking out books at the beginning of the year and checking in
books at the end of the year?
6. What is your greatest strength and what is your greatest
weakness?
7. The state budget doesn't seem to support school libraries. How
would you generate additional funds for the library?
8. Why are books taken out of the library and discarded?
9. How do you visualize yourself in the school site equation?
10. Why should you be selected from the other applicants for the
position?
11. What kind of scheduling for classes do you foresee in the
future?
12. How would you specialize an orientation for special ed.
Students?
