[CALIBK12] SHARE/HIT: wireless mouse and battery usage

The replies I received varied greatly - some people have never replaced
their mouse batteries while a few replace them at least once a month, most
one to three times a year. Some people reported very long life yet others
with the same brand had very short battery life!

Several people recommended rechargeable batteries and charger available at
Target for about $20 as a good investment.

Only one or two people mentioned TURNING OFF THE MOUSE with the switch on
the bottom. Sure enough, there is a switch there! However, the switch on
mine (GE brand) is so tiny that I needed a pencil point to switch it off!
Switching it back on was even harder. If I can find something reliable to
switch it off at night and then on in the morning, it may help - I assumed
that when the computer was turned off, the mouse would also "sleep" but
apparently it doesn't! This certainly explains why the batteries may run
down faster on mine.

Many thanks to Hillary, George, Amy, Cathy, Pam, Jane, "C.", Kathy,
Jennifer, "M.", Sarah and David.

Original post:

I have an ergonomic, wireless mouse by GE. It seems as though it needs new
batteries every 2 - 3 weeks. We have been using good quality, fresh
batteries. Is this typical?
