[CALIBK12] a general question for anyone with nationwide knowledge

Hi Connie:

Thanks for the link. Districts are the applicants for these grants with one or more of the district school libraries included. The grants are targeted towards schools with many low-income students. If you click on California, for example, you can see which districts were awarded grants in each of the years. It's very competitive as the funding only stretches so far for school districts across the nation.

I was a rater on these grants this last spring so I learned a little about them. Districts can be awarded grants in successive years. The submission is all online and a pretty nifty set-up, although on the part of the applicant it takes some getting used to . I would urge any eligible district to apply this next year to improve student literacy and their access to state-of-the-art technology resources to improve learning.

  Hi,

Regarding "State Funding Histories" for funds from "Improving Literacy Through School Libraries" program:

  http://www.ala.org/ala/washoff/woissues/schoollibraries/lsl/lsl.cfm

I am most curious about the states that have never received funding and that have no page.

I apologize if this is a dumb question, but have these states never applied for funding, or have they simply never received any? (I am assuming that having no page means one has not applied for funding-- which may be a stupid assumption, but I don't know.)
