Some of you probably remember our lament last spring when we were told that our library technicians' jobs were being cut. You may remember our celebration when, after great effort on our part, we received a one-year stay of execution and were told a study of the libraries would be undertaken this year.
At our last Library Curriculum Committee meeting, we were told that the library study had been prepared by a district administrator and just needed to be submitted to the Board of Trustees for final approval. We would then be told what kinds of data we were to start collecting and how the study would proceed.
On Tuesday the superintendent called each librarian in the district to tell us that there would be no library study this year and that there would be none until at least 2009-2010. Our library techs' jobs are secure also. The sup said he has been learning a lot about libraries and wants us to submit to him reports of success stories and successful projects.
Dr. Giokaris is coming to the Legislative Luncheon at CSLA too. If you have a chance, stop by our table and tell him he made a wise decision and shake his hand!
