[CALIBK12] Dan Pink and AASL

Hi all:

I have been meaning to promote the "One conference--One Book" title by Dan Pink, A WHOLE NEW MIND:  Why Right-Brainers Will Rule the Future.  It's an interesting and highly readable book, a look at brain structure and thinking and then at trends in society and how we are, apparently, already moving out of the Information Age of which we are so fond into the "Conceptual Age" where attributes including (according to Pink) Design, Story, Symphony (synthesis), Empathy, Play, and the search for Meaning will be what employers will be looking for and what we will all be engaged in as the new century moves forward.  It's worth taking a look.  Already happening.

Dan Pink also was the keynoter at the AASL conference in Reno and was definitely worth attending, as was the whole conference.  Kudos to those who organized it, including to David Loertscher whose Treasure Mountain gathering and subsequent presentation provided such wonderful learning opportunities for all involved.
