[CALIBK12] 6th historical fiction

I am currently trying to beef up my collection of historical fiction that supports the 6th grade social studies content standards.  Although I've found a lot of great titles dealing with Greece, Rome, and Egypt, I am striking out for the most part when it comes to the rest.  I've got a few titles in mind for prehistoric man, but only one for ancient China, and ZERO for ancient India and the ancient Hebrews.
 
Any suggestions?  My school is populated by mostly ELLs, so Rosemary Sutcliff isn't going to cut it here.  I need books that struggling readers can access.  Action-packed is a plus.  Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson series, for example, lets kids get into Greek mythology thtrough a seriously engaging text.
 
If any of you have lists or ideas, I would love to know about them.
