ROVING WITH EASE: BEST APPROACHES FOR ROVING COMFORT AND SUCCESS
http://tinyurl.com/3drscz

1½ Hour AUDIO CONFERENCE with Joan Giannone—$125.00

to ask for the help they need? These “hidden customers” will only be served
when you get out from behind the desk to provide Roving Service.

ASSIGNMENTS WORTH DOING: COLLABORATING WITH FACULTY TO ENGAGE STUDENTS IN
AUTHENTIC INQUIRY
http://tinyurl.com/2shb29

One Hour AUDIO CONFERENCE with Jean Donham—$85.00

Do students ask real questions when they engage in research? What is their
mental model of a research question? Is it a question for which they already
have an answer? Is it a question that matters – or a question that will
suffice for the assignment? A critical factor to the inquiry process is
designing assignments that engage students in authentic inquiry. Too often,
students satisfy course requirements by only reporting what others have
published. Collaborating with faculty, librarians can participate in
developing research assignments that demand authentic questions and engage
students in research that goes beyond reporting toward gaining new insights.

Wednesday, Dec 5, 11:00 am PT / 2:00 pm ET

those affected by childhood cancer. The presenter will explain how to
conduct an effective reference interview on cancer topics and the questions
the librarian should ask in order to identify information needs. The
principles of locating and selecting authoritative information sources in

http://tinyurl.com/3bsepk

One Hour WEB CONFERENCE with Ken Lavender—$109.95

Librarians and other conservators concerned with preserving their
collections must deal with not only the deterioration of older materials,
but also with poorly made and costly new ones. This series of four sessions
(November, January, March and May) is useful for those interested in basic,
minimal mending, and those that are interested in conservation and
preservation. Ken’s advice will be practical, affordable, and archivally
sound. The sessions include video clips of Ken demonstrating various book
preservation techniques. Session One will cover the basics: tools,
techniques, and workplaces; plus strategies to clean and mend paper.

Tuesday, Dec 11, 10:00 am PT / 1:00 pm ET
IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER: PRIVACY, CENSORSHIP, AND IDENTITY ON THE WEB
http://tinyurl.com/3bb426

One Hour WEB CONFERENCE with Geoff Harder, Kenton Good—$109.95

This session will examine some of the many different facets of on-line
identity, privacy and censorship as they relate to the Net. What does this
mean for those of us using popular Web services like Facebook and MySpace?
How does Net Neutrality affect the future of my Internet experience? What
does this mean for libraries? What does this mean for our users? By keeping
both eyes open and by using careful planning, education and a little
forethought, libraries and their users will both enjoy the best of what the
Internet and Web 2.0 has to offer. Join us for an entertaining and
informative discussion of the murkier side of Internet life.
