George,
These titles are told in first person. They are on mature subjects; we
have them in our Illustrated Fiction section since they are in picture
book format. The first one on the list would be okay for 5th graders; the
teacher should look at the second and third before using them. The last
one is told by a young boy, but the subject might preclude using with 5th
graders. Our teachers use them to start discussions, and we show them to
our less able readers and English learners as books on high school
subjects with more comprehensible language.
