[CALIBK12] 2nd Set of Textbooks

This year we have had far more requests for a second set of textbooks at
both our elementary and intermediate schools.  We have had requests due
to divorced parents, doctors notes, "just because it would be more
convenient" notes,...  I am currently developing a formal policy
regarding second sets so that we can be consistent when requests arise.

 

Do any of you have a formal (or informal) policy regarding second sets
of textbooks?    Our district has been working to bring the textbook
weight in backpacks down to a more reasonable level as in the past this
was the usual reason for a second set request. Our intermediate students
currently only carry a math book and their consumable workbooks and our
elementary students under normal circumstances would bring home only 1-2
textbooks a night.
