[CALIBK12] a question about labeling

Hello all-

I've read with interest the recent thread about labeling AR books, and I
don't want to open a can of worms here but i have a question. My
district has chosen my school to pilot the Renaissance Place program, we
had previously been using the desktop version of AR. In the past, we
had been putting the AR labels on the spine of the books to make it
easier to find an AR book because it was a small selection of books in
the library. Now that we have access to all the quizzes, most of the
books in my library will have a corresponding quiz and I don't want to
put the labels on the outside anymore. My question is this: Is there an
authoritative recommendation or standard that I can site when I present
my plan to the staff? Does putting the reading level on the outside of
the book violate the Library Bill of Rights? I know there are many
opinions about this, I'm looking for an authoritative source to site.

Thanks for your help.
