[CALIBK12] a question about labeling

Our AR system works extremely well. We buy the 5/8" fluorescent orange
dots from Demco and stick them on the spines of all the books for which we
have an AR quiz. The points/reading level is on a sticker on the fly leaf
page inside the book (not on the same page as the barcode). A student can
look around my library and tell at a glance which books are AR and which
are not simply by all the orange dots. This system works beautifully. I
also have big binders strategically placed in the library that contain AR
info listed by title, points, and author (the reading levels are not
separated out but are included in the other listings). Additionally, I
send out AR lists to our local libraries and a couple of the bookstores
nearby so that when students are out buying books they can know if we have
the AR quiz. I wouldn't recommend putting the reading levels or point
values on the spines - I would think it would look really cluttered, and
there's the part about the kids not wanting others to be able to see the
level at which they read.
