Subject: [CALIBK12] Copyright Question

Hi folks,
Please pardon any double posting but here is my question:
A middle drama teacher wants to put on a play.

*	Does the school have to pay royalties for the each performance? Depends on the license purchased. Usually the license covers all performances
*	Does she have to purchase a script for each person who needs one? Yes.
*	Can she purchase one script and then make copies? Absolutely not.
*	She thinks if the school makes it a fundraiser for a non-profit organization such as Red Cross you can bypass royalties~such as 50% of the ticket cost goes to Red Cross. No this is not true. Even if you don't charge admission you must purchase a license.

Note: this is assuming that this is a play that is not in the public domain or already licensed for public use by someone like Plays, inc. In all cases, check what the license says.

I am pretty sure I know the answers put I want to double check with you folks.

I will post the information I receive from you folks.

Thank you.
