My first question is..can any of the money be spent on staffing? For an
after school program, you or someone will have to be in charge and must
be paid. So if you have not already, I would strongly advise you to ask
"who will be in charge of the library program?" If it is not you (for
extra pay), then I would insist it be a credentialed teacher.
Secondly, can you buy materials with the money?
Both of these things will be needed.
Do you have AR? Do you have Plato? Any computerized programs that
assist in reading or reading documentaion could be utilized.
I would definitely use this opportunity to purchase more library
materials for the library that could be used for all your students.

And Congratulations on receiving the grant.

Dear Calibbers,

Our school has been notified we will be receiving the 21st Century
Grant. It must be spent on after school programs. Our principal has
asked that we submit ideas to him on what programs we could offer. I am
looking to this marvelous list serve for ideas. I am at a high school
with a student population of 1000, about 45% on free and reduced lunch.

Do any of you offer any kind of after school reading programs? The sky
is (almost) the limit on what I can do in the library.
