Shirley,
FYI: In looking at the 21st Century Schools grant earlier this summer,
it appears there is an OPTION (not requirement) for providing teachers
with professional development. The CSLA 2.0 Team's School Library
Learning 2.0 online course might be of interest to your school. Or its
"sister" course for teachers. The Pennsylvania Department of Education
contacted us about offering School Library Learning 2.0 to its
librarians in about 200 of its 21st Century high schools -- how cool is
that? It also looks like the 2.0 courses support district technology
plans and administrator professional development.
Let me know if this is useful information.
Best wishes.

Subject: [CALIBK12] 21st Century Grant
Dear Calibbers,
Our school has been notified we will be receiving the 21st Century
Grant. It must be spent on after school programs. Our principal has
asked that we submit ideas to him on what programs we could offer. I am
looking to this marvelous list serve for ideas. I am at a high school
with a student population of 1000, about 45% on free and reduced lunch.
Do any of you offer any kind of after school reading programs? The sky
is (almost) the limit on what I can do in the library.
