Hi Everyone,

Well, it's happened to Ridgeview Elementary. After days of having
the ancient library server in the computer tech's sickroom it has been
pronounced officially dead and we have lost all our files - as the computer
tech 3 techs ago thought it grand to do the back-up on the same server.

I am attempting to reclaim the server to have a tech friend attempt to scrap
the hard drive for files but in the meantime I have to try to recreate our
library. I was able to get last year's inventory report off the hard drive
of my computer so I have a written record of the materials.

Anyone have a suggestion as where to go from here?

We are also in the beginnings of a circulation software upgrade. Everyone
but 2 schools in our district has recently purchased Info Centre and that
was our plan too. Two days ago I found out that Follett is planning just one
more update for that software and then just a couple years of support. They
are not selling the product anymore. :-( So now we are looking at Destiny
for our school. Is it working well for anyone out there? What's the
difference between Follett's circulation/catalog program and Destiny? The
web site is less than perfectly clear.

Thank you all for your responses,

Shelley Dearmin, Library Media Tech

"Children's literature may be the most important literature you ever read.
This is the stuff that you read before you've figured out who you are,
before you've made up your mind on all sorts of subjects. This is the
literature that shapes you more than anything else." Philip Nel
