Hello CAlibbers;
The 2007 Conference Committee recognizes the outstanding efforts of the
many CSLA members who have participated in the Web 2.0 tutorial. In
fact, you can visit this web page of the CSLA web site,
<http://www.csla.net/res/library_2_0.htm>, and still register to
participate before coming to the state conference in Ontario in
November.
Connie Williams, outgoing VP Communications and incoming CSLA
President-Elect, has worked tirelessly with a fantastic team to create
the Web 2.0 online interactive tutorial program. To recognize the summer
"graduates" of the tutorial, Connie and team have planned the following
items at the conference:
* Saturday, Nov 17, at 10:45 AM is the official Web 2.0 recognition
1-hour concurrent session entitled, "School Library Learning 2.0:
California's Summer Fun.". It features the dynamic tech team of Connie
Williams, Jackie Siminitus, Rob Darrow, Jamie Boston, and Doug
Achterman.
* For general recognition, ribbons have been made up for
participants to pick up and attach to their badges.
* Look for a Web 2.0 entry at the Poster Session in the Exhibit
Hall.
In addition, here are the tech team member's individual sessions and
other presentations about Web 2.0:
* Thursday, Nov 15, 1:00 PM: Rob Darrow presents a 2-hour
pre-conference Workshop entitled, "What is Library 2.0 and How Can It Be
Used?
* Thursday, Nov 15, 3:30 PM: Joan McCall presents a 2-hour
pre-conference Workshop entitled, "Keeping Safe in Web 2.0."
* Friday, Nov 15, 11:15 AM: Doug Achterman presents a 1-hour
session entitled, "The Wiki Way: Building Better Collaborative Library
Projects."
* Friday, Nov 16, 2:15 PM: Marc McPhee presents a 1-hour session
entitled, "Web 2.0 Tools--Podcasts, Blogs, RSS, Wikis, and More!"
* Friday, Nov 16, 3:30 PM: Miranda Doyle presents a 1-hour session
entitled, "Library Web Site 2.0: Developing Interactive Web Sites for
Teens."
* Saturday, Nov 17, 8:00 AM: Jamie Boston presents a 1-hour session
entitled, "Blogs, Books, and Ties that Bind."
* Saturday, Nov 17, 10:45 AM: Connie and the tech team's session
mentioned above.
* Sunday, Nov 18, 8:30 AM: Dr. David Loertscher presents a 1-hour
session entitled, "School Library 2.0: The Future is Now!"
Please note that there are many other outstanding technology sessions as
well in addition to these listed.
Now here's your only MAJOR problem: deciding which sessions to attend,
given the unparalleled choices seen in your CSLA Preliminary Program. If
you are not a member of CSLA, please email the CSLA office at
<http://www.csla.net> and ask to be sent either a CSLA application form,
or a Preliminary Program, or both! Be a part of the professional growth
that makes you the outstanding school library professional or
paraprofessional that you are. You deserve it!
