CSLA podcasters,

FYI: Here's an interesting way to collect student podcasts or
contributions to a podcast. Talk about portable recording devices --
student cell phones! New word: "phonecast." See below.

You could have them phonecast, then all you need is a cell phone (or any
phone). You could sign up for Gcast.com and have them all make their
calls to the official podcast phone number. When calling, you can choose
to save your audio for later or publish it right away. If you go ahead
and publish them, each call would essentially become a podcast episode.

Another idea would be to set up a digital voicemail account at K7.net,
and have each student call that number and record their audio as a
voicemail. The messages would all be emailed to you as .wav files, which
you could convert to mp3's and then edit in Audacity or whatever.

Both of these are free services. Hope that helps!

All,
I'm teaching a new session of Podcasting within our University
department of Continuing Education, but have hit a snag within my
upcoming class. The AV department has loaned out all of the Digital
Audio Recorders and I need something for my students. I'm going to be
teaching adults to podcast within a two nights a week---two weeks class
time.

Since we really cannot record within the classroom, does anyone have any
suggestions as to a portable recording device that the students could
take home one night, and then bring to class the next, filled with their
podcast audio?

Thanks in advance,

Jon Mark
