How about asking at least core curriculum organizations to link to them
also from their web pages?

"What a school thinks about its library is a measure of what it feels
about education." - Harold Howe, former Secretary of Education

"Whatever the cost of our libraries, the price is cheap compared to
that of an ignorant nation." - Walter Cronkite, Newscaster (1916 -
)

"I think the health of our civilization, the depth of our awareness
about the underpinnings of our culture, and our concern for the future
call all be tested by how well we support our libraries." - Carl Sagan,
Scientist (1934-1996)

I was involved in writing our CSLA standards as the task force editor.
It really never occurred to me as I labored for two years on this
project
that the only way our standards would be distributed required paying
for
them. One of the reasons for writing our own standards was to promote
school libraries among teachers, principals, superintendents, school
board members,
parents, legislators, the general public, and school library people
throughout
the nation. The easiest way to do this is to advertise them and make
them
freely available on our Web site. I read lots of school library
standards from
other states and never encountered any "pay per view" requirement.
The
printed version of our standards is an excellent publication, which
should still
be available to purchase. Every California LMT, principal, and
superintendent
should have one. However, in my view, it is long past due for us to
distribute
our standards more broadly as part of our mission to promote strong
school
libraries. I think our CSLA Web site home page should have a link to
the
text of the standards, and they should be free for viewing and
downloading.
