[CALIBK12] "S & G" - bound or downloaded? Consider this. . . .

Like Kathy,
I too use my copy (Standards and Guidelines For a Strong School Library)
frequently. I think anyone who sees it (in the future) on our website and
refers often to it will eventually want to purchase a hard copy, or will end
up printing it out eventually anyway. If you are going to show the standards
to your principal, a teacher, board member, site rep, use during a meeting,
etc., having it in a professionally printed format is MUCH more impressive
than a downloaded version (IMHO). A professionally printed document carries
a bit more "clout" and seems more prestigious, professional, and "official"
(even if it's not - yet!). Something to consider when you may be called
upon to speak to your school board, speak to the press, etc.
I'm not sure why we would need or want to "password protect it" - unlike our
membership data which IS personal information, this is not. We want people
to use and refer to it.

I'm sure you are all talking about Standards and Guidelines for Strong
School Libraries, correct?
I use this publication all the time. I can't imagine doing this job without
it. I gladly paid for it, but I believe it should be available to all free
of charge. Kudos to all of you that were involved in writing it!
CSLA is a wonderful organization. I also participated in Library Web2 and am
so thankful for the opportunity.
Thank you.
