Subject: [CALIBK12] Book Title Request


Hello, My Esteemed Library Colleagues.
A teacher-friend fondly remembers a picture book from her childhood (she is in her early to mid 40's) and would like to share it with her class, but alas, she cannot remember the title or author.  After listening to her retell the story, it is not familiar to me; hence, this request.
She says that the protagonist was a nice lady who lived in a tree house with bears as friends.  The antagonist was the not-so-nice wife of the town mayor who disliked the nice bear lady until a flood forced everyone to seek refuge in the tree house, which resulted in a more amicable relationship.  Does this storyline sound at all familiar to any you?
