[CALIBK12] ``The Information Age``/Standards for free

I also think the standards should be available to anyone for free (electronically) if we want anyone outside the organization to support them. I would like to be able to direct others to the organization's desired standards/expectations of an exemplary setting, rather than just have it sound like it's my opinion. Perhaps more print copies will be sold if others see what they contain.

I like the idea of posting them for everyone -free! Who are we hiding
them from? - we continue to preach to the choir.
Interested people will still purchase the printed document.

I like the idea of posting them behind a password.

Unfortunately, our standards can't be posted with the others,
because they are on the CDE website, which must mean that they have been
adopted by the State Department in an official way. Ours are still
essentially a product of our organization. Nevertheless, they could be
available on our website, couldn't they?
"Our standards" could be posted anytime we choose to post them
because they are ours. The CDE did us a favor by helping us sell the
copies we had. Thank you, Barbara. Whether we should now give them
away for free is a decision for the Association to make, and an ideal
question for the Membership Forum at CSLA in Ontario. Other ideas might
include posting them to our website for members' use, behind a password,
just as the Membership Directory is there now.
