You really don't need Photoshop to create a poster. We do it with MS Word all the time. Just set your page size to the largest paper/printer you have. Do the work using word art, text boxes, and imported pictures. Attached is a poster I got from another librarian of a student created poster. I show it to students as an example. If you open it in word, you can click on the various components to see how to edit them.

How about some internet research about how to publish your own short stories.

A teacher asked me for ideas with a project after teaching a series of 9th grade short stories. His goal is to incorporate technology into the final product with a possible business angle to it. i.e. create a movie poster or billboard for the story. He wants to use technology but I'm not sure these 9th graders have competenct Photoshop skills and such. Do you have any ideas for assignements using technology?

My ideas so far have been: create a podcast or radio commercial for the story/movie version; create a commercial and video tape it. create a blog for the main characters at important points in the story. Create an avaars for the characters...

Any other ideas?
