[CALIBK12] Middle School "Standard" Reference/Nonfiction purchases

Here's a scenario for you. You have enough money (yeah, right) to make some nonfiction/reference purchases in these areas:
 
 
Earth Science (8th grade)
 
Life Science (7th grade)
 
Middle Ages (7th grade)
 
U.S. History (8th grade)
 
Language Arts (7th & 8th grade)
 
 
I have just finished the reference class at Fresno Pacific, but I am curious if there are "standard" purchases. Feel free to toss in your favorites in specific areas or hit them all. What would you buy?
 
I will post a hit. (And, if it is successful, we might want to do the same for high school.)
