[CALIBK12] copyright infringement

I can't believe that a TV station doesn't know and want to follow
copyright laws. if you comply with this request you would be aiding and
abetting. In theory you could go to jail with them.
Most educational videos have limited public performance rights. These
usually allow public performance inside a school, such as in the
cafeteria or on a bus trip. (Fair use already allows use in the
classroom as part of curriculum.) Your videos do not come with the
rights to broadcast them to the outside. The TV station would have to
negotiate for those rights.

Subject: [CALIBK12] copyright infringement

Hi This is an email I just received from our local access channel. It is
run through the high school yet is separate. They are looking for
material for the new educational channel. Do you think this is breaking
any copyright law by using the videos I have purchased for the school
and live here in the library?
"Hey there. TTCTV Channel 6, Channel 24 is looking for educational
videos to fill some air time. If you have any math, reading, nutrition,
music, ESL videos that we could digitize for playback let me know. They
should be educational in nature, without overt advertising. "

Thanks for your help,
Jan
