On Friday, April 4th, my good friend Teacher-Librarian Joy Millam held a Game Night at the Valencia High School Library in Placentia. It was a great success! It was held from 3pm to 8pm (I popped in about 4pm). When I got there, there were about 50 students playing video games at 9 different "stations." There was coffee and nachos and all kinds of snacks. Students paid $4 to enter the video game contest, and money was raised to buy manga titles. There were students playing DDR, Guitar Hero, Super Mario Cart, and other video games. The lights were low and all students were super-behaved and totally into the experience. Lots of book displays all over the library too!
Kudos to Joy for bringing gaming into her high school library.
**I would like to invite you to our first school game night this Friday from 3-8PM. We will have all kinds of video games and traditional games and 50 kids playing for small prizes. We are raising money and having fun doing it so we can buy more manga book titles. We will have food and snacksif youve got game or not wed love to have you!

"This is the age of the open-source encyclopedia. Words like 'research' and 'corroborated' now mean whatever the majority says they mean. Personally, I'm voting for 'research' to mean 'speculation' and 'corroborated' to mean 'a zesty sour cream-based dip.'"
