[CALIBK12] Web-based Student File Storage ("Web Lockers")

Dear Colleagues,

Our district no longer provides students with space on the network for saving student work. Students either save their work to a flash drive, email it to themselves as an attachment or pull their hair out in frustration because they don't know what to do. Some utilize Google Docs.

We are exploring the web-based "Student Lockers" that some vendors offer. (Student Web Lockers from Edline or School Web Lockers). A brief search indicates that many schools in California use this type of service.

I'd like to hear your experiences with either of these products. What are the advantages of this type of service vs. encouraging students to use Google Docs or Microsoft Workspace? (Increased security? Other features that the free services don't offer?)

Thank you for any advice.
