FYI: I attended last Wednesday's parents club meeting at SRMS and am attending tonight's HSMS parents club meeting to advocate on behalf of libraries. THe SRMS folks are writing a group letter to the Board and will likely present it at an upcoming board meeting. I'll let you know about HSMS after tonight's meeting... People appear to be outraged by possible library closures... hopefully they will follow through and contact the Board.

Subject: [CALIBK12] Closure of School Libraries
The administration of Santa Rosa City Schools has proposed that all school
libraries (elementary, middle, and high schools) be closed beginning with
school year 2009-10. The school board is inviting public comment regarding
these proposals. Our teacher union informs us that they get reports from
school board members as to how many comments were made regarding which
proposals.
To give your opinion on this proposal:
1) Go to the Santa Rosa School District web page:
http://www.srcs.k12.ca.us
2) Click on the statement in bold type
List of Potential Reductions to be discussed and Reviewed for Consideration
and Input by Various Groups
A pdf. document will be downloaded on your computer.
3) You must open that pdf. document and advance to pages 11-12, items #67-71
to see the proposal for closure of school libraries at the elementary,
middle, and high school levels.
4) Click on the budget item and a pop-up dialog box will open for your
comments.
Your support in this matter is appreciated by the remaining Teacher
Librarians.
