The registration confirmation says we may not use carts. How do you manage
all these books? Lots of trips to your car?

BEA has a marvelous invention of storage boxes in the exhibit hall in two
flavors. You can bring your rolling suitcase and store in an area outside the
exhibit hall. Make little exit trips during the day and store your treasures
in your suitcase. At the end of the day, roll it away. You must remove it at
the end of the day. Kind of like a coat check process.

My personal favorite, though, is a large space within the exhibit hall with
rows of tables and boxes. Find yourself a cardboard box and mark your name on
it, place it on a table near the front of the room if you can and REMEMBER
where you put it. Then during the day you can take your books, ARCs, etc and
put them in the box. I think it is prudent to close your box lid everytime.
People have complained their things got stolen, although it has never happened
to me. Take a comfortable shoulder bag that is commodious but squishes down a
lot. Make frequent trips to your box. Don't overload your bag hoping to make
less frequent trips or your shoulder and back will yell at you later. At the
end of the day, take your box to the front of the hall where a shipping
company will help you get the box labeled, weighed and shipped off to your
destination. Shipping is reasonable. I have learned to pamper myself this way. Pay
the shipping! I know, I know - $15-$30 seems like so much when you can just
carry these things for free, right? But (especially if you are planning on
flying with these treasures) you will end up "paying" for this in other ways:
sore muscles, pulled ligaments, weary arms and legs, even extra luggage charges
these days. Besides, "you're worth it" :-) It is such a relief to just leave
the box off and not have to worry about it again, til the day it arrives on
your doorstep and you salivate at the prospect of opening it. If you have a
very, very special treasure be sure to not ship it, but carry that one with
you. Likewise with the one you plan to read on the plane.

Good luck and enjoy! BTW all, shouldn't we have a CALIB reunion sometime
during BEA and ALA?
