O' Collective Brain,
I'm going to speak at the School Board Meeting on Tuesday and would love some of your collective wisdom. Our elementary techs have all been threatened with severe cutbacks (each being open just 15 hours per week, from a full-time equivalent situation). I know many of you have had to speak to this same situation, any suggestions as to what I might say in just 2-3 minutes.
I feel a tremendous responsibility to our elementary techs to speak eloquently and effectively. I don't know how much this will matter, but I want to do a great job for them. They mean so much to our students, I can't imagine cutting back to just 15 hours a week-- as it is so many of our libraries have been turned into AR-checkout centers.
Thanks!
Joy

Subject: [CALIBK12] Pink Slip Data Collection
Hi, all--
Sandy Schuckett is one of our library voices at CTA . (Renee Ousley-Swank is another.) Sandy would like to share a report with CTA State Council similar to one prepared by school nurses that illustrates the number of certificated positions threatened by March 15th lay off notices. The CDE and I can provide part of the data but only you can provide information about notices. We hope those of you placed in the uncomfortable position of receiving notice on or before March 15 of possible position elimination will take a minute to respond to me with the following information:
County, district, school--if you are replying for you alone or for a group in your district/county--whether this is still an open possibility or resolution has already occurred.
The chart we're preparing shows the number of FTE positions in each district at the last CBEDS data collection and the number of positions at risk.
Thank you in advance for responding to me at bjeffus at cde.ca.gov. Barbara
P.S. We're coming into the final stretch on the CDE Annual School Library Survey. It closes at the end of this month. We're moving toward 6,000 participants! For more information, see http://www3.cde.ca.gov/LibrarySurvey/pages/default.aspx
