[CALIBK12] Female highway robber during Gold Rush?

Does anyone know of a story of a female highway robber/outlaw during early
CA history similar to Black Bart?

My teacher remembers reading a short story about her, one where it is not
revealed that she is female until the end.

I cannot find anything about it.
