FYI -
When new ideas are added to CSLA's California Curriculum Connections, I
get an e-mail and read the idea. This is to learn and also to make sure
all contributions are appropriate (they are!) This idea from Terry
brings up the concept of "student library clubs", what they do, and how
they could use a wiki. (See below)
Idea #61: A school grant writing team can use a wiki to post
their drafts and edit each other's work. This is particularly helpful
when the team doesn't have common planning time. A student library club
could use the wiki as their primary means of communication, posting
agendas and discussing projects. They could revise and assess their
charter and other required documents. HS upperclassmen could create a
library orientation wiki for the freshmen.

My question to CSLA members is how many schools have library clubs? Any
good models or best practices? Is this a good year to introduce the
concept and add a library club to the list of clubs that students can
sign up for in the beginning of the school year? My children's' high
school PTA gave a small sum of money to each club.

What would a list be for "Top 10 Reasons to Join a Library Club?"
Would the reasons be different for H.S., M.S., and Elem?
1- Be FIRST to see new books and issues of magazines
2- Resume enhancer.
3- Special access to my school librarian - my grades will improve!
4- ?

Best wishes.
