Another organization to look at is Ethiopia Reads. For those of you familiar with children's author, Jane Kurtz, this is her organization. She grew up in Ethiopia and has worked with folks there. Shola Children's Library is the first free library in the country. It is an amazing grassroots effort here in the U.S. and in Ethiopia. The director in Addis Ababa is a former children's librarian from San Francisco and was named a CNN Hero this year.
