I know some of you will be interested in the following information from Renee Ousley-Swank, a teacher librarian in Sylvan Union SD, about her father, a retired teacher librarian. Sam was very active in CSLA Northern Section and was registered to come to Library Legislative Day activities when he first became ill. From Renee:

Following the memorial service there will be a gathering and food at the Lunch Pail. When my dad wasn't subbing or enjoying retirement he was often working here. The Lunch Pail is located at 501 Bangs Ave., Modesto. Directions will be provided at the service.

In honor of my dad we are asking you to wear Hawaiian shirts (if you have one). As many of you know Sam loved Hawaii and we feel this is a perfect way to honor him.

Remembrances may be made in the memory of Sam Ousley to the American Diabetes Association, Central Asia Institute (Pennies for Peace), Jewel Gardiner Memorial Scholarship (CSLA), or Dogs for the Deaf.
