[CALIBK12] Breaking Dawn

I have The Host on the shelf already. Can't see a reason not to, really. I thought it was a great book. There was nothing in it that an 8th grader shouldn't read. Of course, I happily put 6 copies of Breaking Dawn on the shelf too, so.....
In terms of letting kids read about lovemaking, I think that the scenes in Breaking Dawn are filled with true love and kindness between two married people. There is nothing graphic there. As a middle schooler, I read VC Andrews and Danielle Steele (yuck), which contain much worse, and frankly, I turned out great.
I have many other issues with Breaking Dawn that bother more than the scenes of marital sex, to tell the truth. None of them, however, would prevent me from putting it on the shelf.

Are there any middle schools that are planning to put this on their shelves? I had been planning to put it out, but am wondering if I'm alone...
Thanks!

Scholastic will carry The Host.
I have also decided not to carry Breaking Dawn in our middle school. I'm sure students will be disappointed, but they can get it at the public library. The scene breaking the furniture during their lovemaking is probably too much for these kids.

In line with an earlier thread, I received notice today from Scholastic that they would not be carrying Breaking Dawn (Stephenie Meyer) in our upcoming book fair. While it was supposed to be offered, the publisher would not permit anyone to preview the book before it was published. When Scholastic was finally able to read it, they determined that "...it was not a good fit for our middle school audience."
Having looked at it, I tend to agree.
