Hello Calib folks
Welcome back to a new school year! The CSLA conference committee is
gearing up for an exceptional conference this year… and we want you to
be there!
This year’s theme of “School Libraries make Connections” is
exemplified in a wonderful collection of great workshops and
concurrent sessions. Learn about the many ways to connect kids with
books, connect parents and colleagues to your library, and how you can
connect to the wider world using web 2.0 tools.
Joe McHugh, storyteller and keynote speaker, will be reminding us
that all this connecting is about story; and that really, these
stories are the most important part of what we do in a library. Each
time we hand out a book, read out-loud, blog, or just chat with kids
or colleagues, we are connecting with each other through our stories.
And hey! while we’re at it, we’re going to just plain have fun!
Attend the President’s reception and you’ll get to see some of your
colleagues put on a radio drama, Prairie Home Companion style, with
sound effects produced on site. It’s going to be a hoot!
Check in with your exhibitor friends and see the latest and greatest
learning resources.
You may be thinking that this is the year that you can’t possibly come
– the budget is tight, there’s no time, no subs or..... But now, more
than ever, it’s important to attend this conference. Conference is the
place to connect with workshop and session presenters; and re-connect
with your library colleagues to gather those great ideas that you can
implement upon your return. It's important for fact-gathering, it's
important inspiration and it's important conversation.
This is where you'll get those great ideas to begin working on your
action advocacy projects - proving just how indispensable you are.
Go to the conference website and sign up today. See you there!
