[CALIBK12] Query: Generic Bar Code in Destiny?

Dear Colleagues,

We have a selection of Playaways in our collection. Most students have their own ear buds but occasionally we have a student who needs a pair. I'd like to have a "generic" bar code that we would keep next to the circ desk station. We'd simply scan that barcode whenever we check out a pair of ear buds.
So, this would mean having a single bar code represent many individual "copies" of an item. I don't want to have to individually assign a bar code to each pair of ear buds.
I haven't figured out how to do this in Destiny. Or maybe this isn't the best way to accomplish this?
Any and all advice would be appreciated.
