Just a quick addition to Maggie's comments, district library plans are still required by the School and Library Improvement Block Grant. SEE Q20 at http://www.cde.ca.gov/fg/aa/ca/faqslibg05.asp . Barbara

We had a district library committee when we created and updated our District Library Plan for the state when it was required for funding. Since that plan has now been merged with the site plans for SLIP purposes, the committee has essentially dissolved. However our library staff does meet monthly by cohort - classified elementary, classified secondary and credentialed - once a month. We also try to meet as a K-12 group at least once a year. In Santa Ana USD library services are part of the Educational Technology Department which tends to keep us up to speed on district initiatives.

Do any of you, particularly in larger districts, have a district library committee? It seems like we have district committees for everything else (technology, language arts, core reading lists, etc.), but not that. I was wondering how usual or unusual that might be.

If you have one, what does it do?

Thanks!
